Despite being a major producer and exporter of crude oil, Nigeria still relies on imported petroleum products for the servicing of her economy. Such petroleum products as Petrol (PMS), Diesel (AGO) and Kerosene (DPK) are daily necessities for almost all Nigerians, who consume a daily average of about 60 million litres. Due to a growing standard of living, more and more Nigerians are increasingly reliant on industrial machinery, electrical and electronic household appliances, motorized vehicles, and so forth, hence the need for constant power supply to aid the uninterrupted production of goods and services and also for domestic use. For this reason, there has, in the past few years, been an ever-higher demand for fuel on the part of Nigerians in order to maximize the usage of their generating sets and industrial plants.
Since its inception, VIRGIN FOREST ENERGY LIMITED has operated as an independent marketer of petroleum products such as Kerosene (DPK), Diesel (AGO) and Petrol (PMS). Due to the acute shortfall of adequate refining capacity in Nigeria at present (occasioned by the current non-
operation of the country’s refineries, a situation which will, hopefully, be ameliorated in the not-too-distant future), we have to import our products, as do most marketers operating in the Nigerian market. But we do so with the end-user in mind, in terms of affordability within the parameters set by the relevant regulatory authorities, and quality and satisfaction in terms of usage by our wide range of customers and clients.
